Provided are a vehicle control device capable of storing information required for analysis and verification regardless of the start of fail-safe control, and a data storage method for the vehicle control device. This vehicle control device comprises a control device which controls devices provided in a vehicle. The vehicle movement state model data predicted on the basis of operational information is stored in advance in the control device. The control device calculates vehicle movement state prediction information from the vehicle movement state model data using the operational information for a first device acquired by an operational state acquisition unit, compares the movement state prediction information with the state information of a second device acquired by the state information acquisition unit, and, if there is a difference therebetween, stores the operational information and the state information of the second device.
