Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle control device that is able to suppress an unnecessary lane-change operation of a host vehicle, and suppress a deterioration in ride comfort. This vehicle control device 1 is provided with: peripheral state detection sensors 301-304 for detecting a peripheral state for a host vehicle; a blind-spot object estimation processing unit 311 for calculating a blind-spot region in the periphery of the host vehicle on the basis of a feature amount of map information and the detected peripheral state of the host vehicle, and estimating an object present in the blind-spot region, as well as a behavior trend of the object; and a potential risk map generation unit 309 for generating a region in which there is a potential risk that the host vehicle will approach the object, on the basis of the behavior trend of the object as estimated by the blind-spot object estimation processing unit 311. In addition, the vehicle control device 1 is provided with: an automatic driving planning unit 201 for generating a lane-change trajectory from the peripheral state of the vehicle and the map information, and for comparing the lane-change trajectory and the potential risk map to determine whether a lane change of the host vehicle is possible; and a vehicle motion control unit 203 for controlling the operation of the host vehicle in accordance with the determination of whether the lane change is possible.
