Abstract:
The present invention provides a vehicle control device that, when there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle, appropriately determines the possibility of collision in accordance with the surrounding situation, thereby making it possible to avoid collision or reduce damage when a collision occurs and perform a collision avoidance operation that is less likely to become an excessive operation. A collision determination unit 6 is further provided with a collision avoidance operation determination unit 7 that determines a collision avoidance operation from the relationship between a retreatable space and a predicted collision position, and a driving support determination unit 8 performs driving support for collision avoidance on the basis of the collision avoidance operation determined by the collision avoidance operation determination unit 7.
