Abstract:
A vehicle control method to be used with a vehicle 1 in which a front wheel 2 is driven by an engine 4, the vehicle control method having: a basic torque-setting step for setting basic torque to be produced by the engine 4, on the basis of the state of operation of the vehicle 1; an acceleration torque setting step for setting acceleration torque on the basis of a decrease in the steering angle of a steering device 5 installed in the vehicle 1; a torque generation step for controlling the engine 4 so as to generate torque based on the basic torque and acceleration torque; and an acceleration torque-changing step for changing the acceleration torque on the basis of the vehicle-widthwise-direction attachment position of a steering wheel 6 and the operation direction of the steering wheel 6 when the steering angle is decreased. As a result, it is possible to appropriately ensure a driver fatigue reduction effect achieved by vehicle orientation control, by performing the vehicle orientation control by taking into account the vehicle-widthwise-direction attachment position of the steering wheel 6 and the operation direction of the steering wheel 6.
