Abstract:
This vehicle display apparatus (5) comprises: an HUD (50) which projects, onto a front windshield (21), a display image (56) formed at a first position (P1) conjugated to a visual area (7) with the front windshield therebetween so that the display image (56) is formed at a second position (P2) conjugated to an external sensor (53) with the front windshield therebetween; and an HCU which, with a failure condition set as the present brightness detected by the external sensor exceeding an allowable range, controls the display state of a virtual image of the display image if the failure condition is met, such that the display luminance of an image selected from the display image is increased to a fail-safe luminance. Thus, the visibility of the display image can be ensured.
