The vehicle door handle unit is equipped with a handle base which is affixed to a door of the vehicle, an operating handle which is rotatably connected to the aforementioned handle base, and a relay lever which is rotatably connected to the aforementioned handle base and is rotated around an axis by the operation of the aforementioned operating handle. The aforementioned relay lever is equipped with a lever secondary body which is connected to an operating force transmitting body connected to a door lock unit inside the door, and a lever main body which is rotated by the operation of the aforementioned operating handle. The aforementioned lever secondary body and the aforementioned lever main body are supported such that they can rotate relative to each other around the aforementioned axis. When a connector is positioned at a connecting position, the aforementioned lever main body is connected to the aforementioned lever secondary body by the connector. The aforementioned connector withdraws from the aforementioned connecting position with the input of a prescribed acceleration and the aforementioned lever main body and the aforementioned lever secondary body are disconnected.
