Abstract:
A locking mechanism 35 is disposed between a pawl lever 20 and a manual release means 32. This vehicle door latch device has: a ratchet member 15 that is engaged with a latch 13 so as to be detachable from the latch 13 with a release component force F2; a ratchet presser 22 that restricts detachment of the ratchet member 15 from the latch 13; and a power release means 24 that displaces the ratchet presser 22. The ratchet member 15 is provided with a base lever 19 and the pawl lever 20. The base lever 19 is displaced to a non-restricted position by displacement of the ratchet presser 22, and makes the pawl lever 20 detachable from the latch 13 with the release component force F2. The manual release means 32 is connected to the pawl lever 20. The locking mechanism 35 is disposed between the pawl lever 20 and the manual release means 32.
