Abstract:

A low-cost add-on type vehicle driving mechanism is provided. A vehicle driving mechanism comprises an engine, an automatic speed change unit, a first drive gear formed on the output shaft of the automatic speed change unit, and a differential device for transmitting the torque inputted into the output shaft through the first drive gear to each drive wheel. The driving mechanism further comprises an electric motor, a prime mover gear formed on the output shaft of the electric motor disposed in parallel with the output shaft of the speed change unit, and an intermediate speed reduction shaft disposed in parallel with the output shafts of the speed change unit and electric motor, the intermediate speed reduction shaft being formed with a driven gear meshing with the prime mover gear associated with the electric motor, and a second drive gear for transmitting the torque from the output shaft of the electric motor to the differential device.
