Abstract:

Provided is a vehicle image display system and method wherein an advance display of the next travel action to be taken by a vehicle in automatic operation is provided in an intuitive, instantaneous, and easy-to-understand manner for an occupant. A vehicle image display system (1) is equipped with: a first display device (3) which uses a front windshield (15) as a display screen; and a second display device (4) which is a monitor device (24) mounted on a dashboard. If during automatic operation, the vehicle traveling on a scheduled travel route (37) to a destination with an automatic operation system (2) deviates from the scheduled travel course (37) and changes the lanes, in order to visually give advance notice to the occupant of the vehicle, the symbol image (44, 44') of an arrow showing the travel course for the lane changing and the video of the virtual image (46, 46') showing a virtual vehicle of the vehicle traveling with the arrow as a path are displayed on the display screen of each of the display devices.
