A vehicle mounted antenna device in which good receiving characteristics are realized by suppressing reception of a reflected/scattered wave coming from a vehicle interior and being a factor deteriorating the receiving characteristics of the antenna. A maximum direction (12) of a radiation pattern (11) of the vehicle mounted antenna device installed on the glass of a vehicle is oriented to the direction (14) ahead of the vehicle relative to the boundary plane (10) through which the position (9) of an electricity supply point passes. A minimum direction (13) of the radiation pattern (11) is oriented to the direction (15) behind the vehicle. The receiving characteristics of the vehicle mounted antenna device can be enhanced by suppressing reception of a signal that is reflected and scattered in the vehicle interior.
