Provided is a vehicle-mounted wireless communication device that, in a vehicle provided with the function of starting a motor and locking/unlocking doors by means of a communication instrument, enables a backup communication instrument to be placed inside the vehicle. The vehicle-mounted wireless communication device (10) is provided with: a wireless communication unit (13) that transmits/receives wireless signals between a portable main key (5a) and backup key (5b); a control unit (11) that, in accordance with wireless signals transmitted/received by the wireless communication unit (13), detects whether or not each of the main key (5a) and backup key (5b) are present outside the vehicle (1) and inside the vehicle (1); and a locking switch (15) that receives an operation for locking the doors. Also, the vehicle-mounted wireless communication device (10) is provided with a disabling unit (20) that, when a locking instruction reception unit (15) receives a signal pertaining to a locking instruction of the doors and the control unit (11) detects that the main key (5a) is present outside the vehicle (1) and the backup key (5b) is present inside the vehicle, disables a subset of the functionality of the backup key (5b) detected to be present inside the vehicle (1).
