Abstract:
The present invention provides a vehicle obstacle detection method and system. By means of a laser radar and a camera device which are mounted on a vehicle, images in the vehicle driving direction are obtained respectively, the images are subjected to image feature extraction respectively, obstacle information is determined based on the extracted image features. Since the laser radar can obtain images in a long range, obstacle detection is conducted by combining the images obtained by the laser radar with the images obtained by the camera device, long-distance obstacles can be detected, a vehicle can have a far braking distance in the high-speed driving state, the phenomenon that due to the fact that the vehicle is late to brake, the vehicle impacts the obstacle is avoided, and the safety of driving of the vehicle is improved.
