Abstract:

Damage to and destruction of the open/close bar of a vehicle passage control device will be minimized, and even if a vehicle strikes the open/close bar, damage and the like is minimized. This vehicle passage control device is installed at the transit gate of the entrance or exit of a toll road or the like, and is provided with an open/close bar (12) that controls the passage of vehicles. The open/close bar (12) opens and closes to turn obliquely upward in the forward direction of passage of the vehicle and swing up. The angle of gradient (θ) formed by the oblique, upward turning and swinging is in a range of approximately 25° to approximately 55° with respect to the road surface. A vehicle detection sensor that senses the approach of a vehicle is provided in front of the open/close bar (12), and when a vehicle is detected by means of this vehicle detection sensor, a command to open the open/close bar (12) is output. When a load equal to or greater than a prescribed load is applied to the open/close bar (12), an open operation command is output to the open/close bar (12).
