Abstract:

Provided is a vehicle position detecting device (200) which can identify the position of a vehicle hidden behind an obstacle. The vehicle position detecting device (200) is equipped, for example, with a sound source position identification unit (102a) wherein the sound pressure detected by a sound pressure detecting unit (101a) is deducted from the sound pressure indicated by the vehicle sound pressure information memorized by a sound pressure information memory unit (103a), thereby calculating the attenuation of the sound pressure of the vehicle sound, wherein there is identified the source of the sound that diffracts in such a way that an obstacle identified by a diffraction spot identification unit (110) serves as a diffraction spot, this identification process being based on the calculated attenuation amount, the rules showing the attenuation amount that depends on the sound propagation distance, and the relationship shown by diffraction information memorized by the diffraction information memory unit (109); and wherein in this way, the position is identified where the vehicle emitting the aforementioned vehicle sound is predicted to exist; and a presentation unit (104) which presents the identified position.
