Abstract:
An on-vehicle relay device 200 is provided with: a layer-2 relay unit 131; and a layer-3 relay unit 132, wherein a first layer L1 to a third layer L3 are hardware circuits, and a fourth layer L4 and beyond are executed by a microcomputer 140. As the first layer L1 to the third layer L3 are formed by hardware circuits, the layer-3 relay unit 132 is a hardware circuit. Forming the layer-3 relay unit 132 as a hardware circuit enables processes to be executed at high speed. Thus, a delay in communication is unlikely to occur. In addition, heat generation can be suppressed by using the hardware circuit.
