Abstract:

This vehicle system device is either a vehicle-mounted device (3, 3a) or a mobile device (2, 2a, 2b). The vehicle system device is used in a vehicle system (1, 1a) in which a vehicle-mounted device used in a vehicle and a mobile device carried by a user can transmit and receive signals via wireless communication. The vehicle system device is provided with a time measurement unit (231, 231b, 332) and an inside/outside determination unit (232, 333). The time measurement unit measures the time from when the reception signal strength of a signal received by the vehicle system device and transmitted via wireless communication exceeds a threshold, which is set within the range of reception signal strengths for which signal reception by the vehicle system device is possible, until the reception signal strength falls below the threshold. The inside/outside determination unit performs an inside/outside determination in which, if a measured time that is the time measured by the time measurement unit is greater than or equal to a prescribed value, a determination is made that the mobile device is in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, whereas if the measured time is less than the prescribed value, a determination is made that the mobile device is outside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
