Abstract:
An onboard system (100) performs authentication of a portable device (200) multiple times during a period from a parked state until an engine is started. The onboard system (100) operates in an alarm mode when a vehicle is parked, and transmits an authentication signal that includes an intensity change signal. When the onboard system (100) is operating in an alarm cancellation mode, the portable device (200) returns a response signal only when there is an intensity change in the received authentication signal. The onboard system (100) transitions to the alarm cancellation mode when authentication of the portable device (200) has succeeded in the authentication process during the alarm mode. When the onboard system (100) is operating in the alarm cancellation mode, the portable device (200) returns a response signal irrespective of whether there is an intensity change in the received authentication signal.
