Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a vehicular side airbag device provided with a side airbag capable of quickly and smoothly sliding into the space between a passenger and a vehicle side section, capable of instantly reaching the particularly wide shoulder and back to restrain the passenger, and capable of simultaneously expanding in a form such that the portion protecting the rigid skeletal shoulder and back periphery is thin and the portion protecting the brittle skeletal chest periphery is thick. [Solution] The inside of a side airbag (4) is provided with a rapid chamber (8) that extends from a seat back area (U) into a top area (V) and a bottom area (W) in a manner of gradually tapering toward the front of the vehicle, a delay chamber (9) positioned between the top area and the bottom area in front of the seat back area within the vehicle, and a partitioning member (7) for partitioning the side airbag interior into the delay chamber and the rapid chamber, and an inflator (3) being provided in the rapid chamber.
