Abstract:
The scanning velocities of a plurality of electron beams having beam intervals can be independently modulated. A current is supplied to a velocity modulation coil to modulate the scanning velocities of a plurality of electron beams (19A), (19B) emitted from electron guns housed in the neck portion of a CRT and sharpen the profile of an image. The velocity modulation coil consists of three upper−side coils (27A), (27B), (27C) and three lower−side coils (28A), (28B), (28C), and has a coil shape that generates an asymmetric quadripolar magnetic field, and independent magnetic fields obtained from these two velocity modulation coils respectively modulate the scanning velocities of a plurality of electron beams (19A), (19B) almost independently of one another.
