One aspect of the present invention relates to a verification system including a printer and a verification device. The printer is provided with a printing unit for printing onto various print media in a continuum on the basis of image data. The verification device is provided with: a first image data generation unit for reading a print medium prior to printing to thereby generate first image data; a second image data generation unit for reading an already-printed-upon print medium to thereby generate second image data; a printing verification unit for verifying, on the basis of drawing data, the first image data, and the second image data, whether prescribed information is correctly printed on various print media; an extraction unit for extracting identification information from the first image data; and a medium verification unit for verifying whether items of identification information extracted from first image data generated on the basis of each of two or more print media match identification information extracted from first image data generated on the basis of one print medium.
