Abstract:
Vertical take-off and landing aircraft (1) comprising a fuselage (2), at least one propulsion system (5), at least four lift propellers (10) and at least two fixed wing planes (20, 30, 40). The fixed wing planes (30, 40) which are located behind the most forward lift propellers (10) are located above the lift propellers (10). The lift propellers (10) are distributed on either side of at least one of the fixed wing planes (30) and on either side of the fuselage (2) such that the lift propellers (10) are longitudinally separated by at least the magnitude of the chord (C1, C2) of the fixed wing plane located therebetween, and are laterally separated by at least the width (L1, L2) of the fuselage (2) located therebetween. At least one of the fixed wing planes (30) has a variable span and the aircraft (1) comprises a control system for varying this span in flight.
