Abstract:
A vertical washing machine, capable of reducing time and costs of washing bulky laundry items and improving washing power. The vertical washing machine (1) comprises: a washing cylinder (4); a water pumping passage (28), used to draw washing water on the side of a bottom wall (4B) in the washing cylinder (4), and to pour the washing water from an upper position onto a pillow (Q) in the washing cylinder (4); a motor (6); a rotary agitator (5), driven by a driving force of the motor (6) to rotate so as to agitate the pillow (Q) in the washing cylinder (4) and move the washing water on the side of the bottom wall (4B) in the washing cylinder (4) to the water pumping passage (28); a water supply valve (21); and a control portion (35). The control portion (35) executes a first washing process and a second washing process. In the first washing process, the water supply valve (21) supplies water until a first water level is reached so as to enable the pillow (Q) in the washing cylinder (4) to move away from the rotary agitator (5), and the motor (6) drives the rotary agitator (5) to rotate. In the second washing process, which follows the first washing process, the water supply valve (21) supplies water until a second water level higher than the first water level is reached, and the rotary agitator (5) is alternately and repeatedly driven to rotate and forced to stop.
