Abstract:
A vibration damping device for a machine tool spindle comprises: an annular support plate mounted under the tip of the machine tool spindle; a plurality of support bars installed on the support plate in the lengthwise direction of the spindle to be adjacent to the outer periphery of the spindle; a pair of weight disks, each of which is made by stacking a plurality of arc-shaped disks formed of tuned mass members, wherein the pair of weight disks are fixed to the support bars to be in close contact with the outer periphery of the spindle while facing each other; and a damping sheet made of an elastic member and inserted between the outer periphery of the spindle and the weight disks. The vibration damping device of the present invention can maximize vibration damping effect when installed at the nearest position to the spindle where vibration occurs. Also, the vibration damping device of the present invention may include a plurality of modular vibration damping devices for respective resonance frequency bands, and thus can effectively dampen a vibration phenomenon at various resonance frequencies of the machine tool spindle.
