Abstract:
Disclosed are a vibration spot welding device and method for the welding of overlapping metal plates by applying heat to the welding area of the overlapping metal plates while at the same time applying a continuous linear repeat loading. The vibration spot welding device comprises a pair of vibration welders which face each other across the overlapping metal plates, and at least one of the pair of vibration welders can heat the welding area of the metal plates and the welding area can perform a reciprocating motion between the pair of vibration welders such that plastic flow occurs and such that the welding area where the plastic flow has occurred is pressed and joined. Also, the vibration spot welding method comprises the steps of: putting the overlapping metal plates into intimate contact by applying pressure to a pair of electrodes that face each other across the overlapping metal plates; heating the welding area of the metal plates by supplying a power source to the pair of electrodes; causing plastic flow to occur by reciprocally moving the heated welding area; and welding the overlapping metal plates by pressing the welding area where the plastic flow has occurred.
