Abstract:
Provided is a video display device that enables miniaturization of the device and gradual changes to the brightness of each of the gradation values of video. The present invention is provided with: a laser light source unit for changing an amount of light being emitted in accordance with a drive current; a video processing unit for outputting a video gradation signal, a current gain signal, and a current offset signal; a laser driver for outputting the drive current on the basis of the video gradation signal, a power source gain signal, and the current offset signal; and a dimming level processing unit for dividing dimming levels for designating the brightness of video into a plurality of dimming modes, and dividing into in-mode levels within the divided dimming modes. The video processing unit comprises: a video gradation value output unit for outputting the video gradation signal, obtained by scaling and offsetting the gradation values of video on the basis of the dimming mode and in-mode level; a current gain output unit for outputting the current gain signal, corresponding to the dimming mode; and a current offset output unit for outputting the current offset signal, corresponding to the dimming mode.
