Abstract:
In order to efficiently compress a plurality of videos having the same pattern but different video formats, a video encoding device (AA), which is capable of scalable coding with respect to an input vide (a), converts the input video (a) to a video with a different video format to that of the video format of the input video (a) via a video format conversion means, and generates a video after conversion. Information that is lost when generating a video after conversion via the video format conversion means is predicted via an encoding-side prediction means. An input video is encoded by a first encoding means by using prediction results from the encoding-side prediction means. The video that has been converted by the video format conversion means is encoded by a second encoding means. The encoding results from the first encoding means and the encoding results from the second encoding means are multiplexed by a multiplexing means, and a compressed stream (b) having scalability related to the video format is generated.
