The video image processing method comprises: in response to a special-effect trigger operation, displaying a target virtual object model, and collecting an image to be processed which comprises a target object, wherein the target virtual object model is played according to a preset basic animation special effect; according to a facial image in the image to be processed, determining at least one triggered superimposed animation special effect; and superposing at least one superimposed animation special effect for the target virtual object model, so as to obtain a target video frame, and displaying the target video frame.
