Provided is a video playback device with which the load on a server is small, and the volume of video data to be downloaded can be restricted.　A video playback device 2 for selecting a portion of video data 322 divided into a plurality of divided files and stored on a server storage means 32, and playing back the same on a display means 25, is provided with: a scene selecting means 211 for a user to select a partial scene included in the video data 322; a scene selection accepting means 212 for accepting selection of the divided file to be downloaded from a server 3 in accordance with an input performed by means of the scene selecting means 211; a download instructing means 213 for instructing a download of the divided file that is to be downloaded, accepted by the scene selection accepting means 212; a playback video creating means 214 for creating playback video data 222, comprising a portion of the video data 322, from the divided file downloaded on the basis of the instruction from the download instructing means 213; and a video playback device storage means 22 for storing the playback video data 222 capable of being played back on the display means 25.
