Abstract:
A video-signal-processing device is provided with a signal-processing system circuit (2) for processing a video signal from the outside to generate an output signal and outputting the generated signal to the outside, a composition unit (6c) for combining a test pattern into the video signal so as not to play a part in the display of the output signal, and a comparison unit (7c) for comparing the test pattern combined into the video signal and a test pattern extracted from the output signal and outputting the result of the comparison. Specifically, the test pattern is combined into an RGB signal by determining a position in a portion of an RGB signal display area at which the test pattern is combined, and by modulating the data of the RGB signal display area with the test pattern to an extent that the data is not visually distinguishable by a user (i.e., by applying a process such as a dither pattern, electronic watermark, etc.). Presence of a change in the test pattern before and after the passage through the signal processing system circuit is determined, and the operation of the signal processing system circuit is diagnosed.
