Abstract:
A block dividing unit 311 calculates, for each pixel row along the dividing direction in a display screen, the deviation that creates a difference between an object display region and other display regions, using the luminance distribution of the pixels, and divides the display screen along the dividing direction at a dividing position determined by using the deviation for each pixel row. A block risk calculation unit 321, a block risk update unit 323, an area risk calculation unit 331, and an area risk update unit 333 calculate a cumulative deterioration risk for each area by calculating and summing the deterioration risk for each area into which the display screen is divided using the light emission amount for each pixel which is based on a video signal. A gain calculation unit 341 calculates a deterioration risk for each pixel from the cumulative deterioration risk for each area, and calculates a correction gain for each pixel on the basis of the deterioration risk for each pixel and the luminance for each pixel. A multiplication unit 390 corrects the signal level of the video signal using the correction gain. Thereby, the light-emitting element provides for a highly legible display and has a long operating life.
