Abstract:
The present invention is a vinyl-alcohol-based polymer crosslinked by a structure represented by formula (1) and/or a disulfide structure, the vinyl-alcohol-based polymer being incompletely dissolved when added to water to give a concentration of 4% by mass and stirred for three hours at 95°C. In formula (1), R1, R2, and R3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C8 or lesser hydrocarbon group which may have substituents. The present invention includes an additive for a drilling mud containing the vinyl-alcohol-based polymer, a drilling mud to which the vinyl-alcohol-based polymer is added, an additive for a drilling cement slurry containing the vinyl-alcohol-based polymer, and a drilling cement slurry to which the vinyl-alcohol-based polymer is added.
