Abstract:
This virtual image display device refers to an HUD (100) which is used in a vehicle (Am), and which displays a virtual image (Vi) superimposed on a foreground. The HUD (100) comprises: a displacement mechanism (63) that displaces the position of a display region (VA), in which the virtual image (Vi) is displayed, along a vertical direction (US) of the vehicle (Am); and a head-up ECU (70) that controls the position of the display region (VA) according to the content displayed as the virtual image (Vi). The head-up ECU (70) detects at least freezing of the display region (VA) as an anomaly in displacement of the display region (VA). Upon detecting freezing of the display region (VA), the head-up ECU (70) performs failsafe control according to content based on the position at which the display region (VA) has frozen.
