Provided is a voltage regulator capable of accurately and stably controlling an output current to an overcurrent protection set value without requiring a phase compensation circuit of an element having a large area. This voltage regulator is provided with: a first differential amplifier circuit that compares a first reference voltage and a feedback voltage with each other; a constant voltage control circuit that is provided with an output transistor that is controlled by means of an output voltage of the first differential amplifier circuit; a resistor for measuring an output current; a second differential amplifier circuit that measures a difference between voltages at both the ends of the resistor; a comparator that compares an output voltage of the second differential amplifier circuit and a second reference voltage with each other; and an overcurrent protection circuit that is provided with a switch controlled by means of a detection signal of the comparator. The voltage regulator is configured such that the output voltage of the second differential amplifier circuit is inputted to the first differential amplifier circuit via the switch when the output current of an overcurrent protection set value or more is flowed, and control of the output transistor is switched to control using the overcurrent protection circuit from control using the constant voltage control circuit.
