Abstract:

When a user holds a holding grip of this walking assistance device so that the walking assistance device will travel alongside the user, the walking assistance device can assist the user in walking safely. The walking assistance device 60 has: two front wheels 30, 30 of D1 attached to the front side of a base frame 2 that is arranged in the lateral direction; and one rear wheel 50 of D2 (>D1) attached to the other side. An operation frame 10 having the holding grip 13 for an operator is attached to the base frame 2 in a height-adjustable manner. A first axle supporter 20 that pivotally supports the front wheels 30 is loosely attached to the base frame 2 such that the front wheels 30 are maintained in contact with the ground 62 even when the operation frame 10 is inclined. The axle 28 of the front wheels 330 is located in front of the leading end 2a of the base frame 2 in the travel direction. A stopper 58 is provided above the rear wheel 50 with a space 57 therebetween. The stopper 58, when pressed downward via the holding grip 13, comes into contact with the rear wheel 50, thereby controlling the rotation thereof. When the pressed stopper is released, the space 57 is restored to ensure travelling.
