Abstract:
A washing machine that is provided with: a housing (2); a rotating drum (4) that has a rotational central axis (12) that, from the front of the casing (2) toward the rear, is horizontal or downwardly inclined, and that has a rotating drum opening (4a) provided to the front thereof; and a water tank (1) that houses the rotating drum (4) such that the latter can rotate in both directions, and that is provided with a water tank opening (1a) that is positioned so as to face the rotating drum opening (4a) along the rotational central axis (12). The washing machine is also provided with: a control unit (14) that executes a washing operation that includes a washing step, a rinsing step, and a spin step; a gap opening (7) that is formed over the entire circumference and that is constituted by a gap that is between a front end (4b) of the rotating drum opening (4a) and a rear end (1b) of the water tank opening (1a); and a guide (29) that guides, toward the rear, clothing that moves around the gap opening (7) as a result of the rotation of the rotating drum (4). The guide (29) is shaped so as to protrude rearward and is provided to the water tank opening (1a) so as to be positioned to the inner-circumferential side of the gap opening (7). The guide (29) has a guide surface that is inclined along the circumferential direction toward at least a side that is opposite the circumferential-direction movement of the clothing that moves as a result of the rotation of the rotating drum.
