The present invention provides a washing machine capable of performing a washing operation considering the performance prioritized by a user. A fully automatic washing machine (1) is provided with an operation display portion (72) for accepting an operation in which prioritized performance is selected from a plurality of performances, i.e., detergent-saving performance, water-saving performance, time shortened performance, and damage reduction performance; and a control portion (101) for setting the values of a plurality of parameters involved in the washing operation, i.e., detergent amount, water volume, water flow intensity, cleaning time, rinsing time, and dehydration time on the basis of the performance selected as the prioritized performance during the washing operation. When the cleaning performance may be reduced, and when the detergent-saving performance is not selected as the prioritized performance, the control portion (101) at least increases the amount of a detergent; when the detergent-saving performance is selected as the prioritized performance, the control portion (101) does not increase the amount of the detergent and sets the value of at least one other parameter so as to improve the cleaning performance.
