Abstract:
The water-absorbable resin composition according to the present invention contains a crosslinked polymer (A) having, as constituent units, at least one monomer (A1) selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (a1) and salts thereof, at least one monomer (A2) selected from the group consisting of methylenesuccinic acid and salts thereof and a crosslinking agent (b) and further contains a water-soluble polymer having the monomer (A1) and/or the monomer (A2) as a constituent unit, in which the content of the water-soluble polymer in the water-absorbable resin composition is 1.0 to 20.0% by weight. According to the present invention, a water-absorbable resin composition can be provided, in which a plant-derived raw material that is useful with respect to environmental protection from the viewpoint of carbon neutrality but has a low polymerization reactivity is used, and the water-absorbability of the resin composition is at the same level as that of a water-absorbable resin composition containing a crosslinked polymer composed only of a petrifaction-derived monomer, i.e., acrylic acid.
