Abstract:

Disclosed are a water purification apparatus capable of changing an operation mode in response to water quality characteristics, and a water purification method based thereon. The water purification apparatus comprises: a pretreatment unit for lowering the turbidity of water to be treated by means of a floc precipitation method while being connected to an inlet of the water to be treated by a first connection pipe; a water purification unit which removes particulate matter contained in the water to be treated while being connected to the pretreatment unit by a second connection pipe; a reverse osmosis unit which applies a pressure higher than the osmotic pressure, while being connected to the water purification unit by the third connecting pipe, to allow only pure water of the water to be treated to pass through a separation membrane; and a sterilization unit which sterilizes harmful bacteria by irradiating ultraviolet rays to the water to be treated while being connected to the reverse osmosis unit by a fourth connection pipe, and prevents re-reproduction of microorganisms by introducing chlorine, wherein the water purification apparatus further comprises a bypass unit for bypassing a specific module from among modules according to the turbidity and salinity of the water to be treated.
