Abstract:
Disclosed is a water retention composition for use in a mortal, which comprises a combination of a water-soluble cellulose ether and a water-soluble polyurethane having specific two types of repeat units at a specific molar ratio. The water retention composition can be used for preparation of a mortal which has a high water retention property and excellent workability including smooth operation of a trowel and can exert a satisfactory level of shape retention property even when asbestos is not used.
