A water shortage detection and control method for a submersible pump. Probes (Z1) are added for alternating current detection; transistor switches (N1-4, P1-2) are used to build a bridge circuit; a detection signal in an alternating current mode is generated; whether there is water is detected by means of a feedback signal, and double-path detection is performed; the electronic probes (Z1) in the alternating current mode are used to detect the water level, and two sets of probes (Z1) can detect two water levels. The electronic probes (Z1) are small in size and convenient to mount. Meanwhile, a single chip microcomputer controls operation of a water pump by means of a relay (K1) according to a certain algorithm; a low-power motor can be directly by the relay (L1), and for a high-power motor, the relay (K1) can be used to control a contactor so as to control the water pump. By means of the control method, the operation time of the water pump can be controlled according to a certain algorithm, frequent startup is reduced, the continuous operation time of the water pump is prolonged, and the problems of water shortage detection and motor protection can be solved to a certain extent.
