Abstract:
Water-soluble azo compounds whose free acid forms are represented by the general formula
(1); and ink compositions containing the same: [Chemical formula 1] (1) (wherein
A is hydroxyl, morpholino, amino, an optionally substituted aliphatic amine
residue, an optionally substituted aromatic amine residue, optionally substituted
phenoxy, or optionally substituted alkoxy; R1 is hydrogen or alkyl
of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R2 is hydrogen or a substituent selected from
among halogeno, nitro, and hydroxyl; and n is an integer of 1 to 3). The azo compounds
exhibit hues having such high clarity as to be suitable for inkjet recording, while
the ink compositions are excellent in storage stability. The inkjet prints made
by using the ink compositions are excellent in the fastnesses to moisture, ozone
gas, light, and others.
