Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a topical pharmaceutical composition that imparts photostability to β blockers (particularly, propranolol hydrochloride), and has well-balanced transdermal absorption properties and skin retention properties, and provides a water-soluble complex containing a β blocker and lecithin, a method for producing the complex, a topical pharmaceutical composition containing the complex, and the like. The complex or an oil-in dispersion containing the complex, is applied to an existing topical mediation (e.g., a W/O cream). By having the complex containing a β blocker to be in the O-phase, the complex is prevented from being in contact with water and dissolved oxygen, and therefore, the risk of photodegradation is reduced.
