Abstract:
Provided is a web supply device with which it is possible to precisely position a movement unit in accordance with the outside-diameter dimensions of a cloth roll for replacement. In the present invention, a movement unit (14) for holding a splicing unit (15) connecting a web (21) being transported and a web of a cloth roll (22) that is on standby at a splicing position (12x) moves on a prescribed path, the movement unit (14) approaching and moving away from the cloth roll (22) that is on standby. A detection sensor (16c) attached to the movement unit (14) or to the splicing unit (15) detects the cloth roll (22) that is on standby in association with movement of the movement unit (14). The present invention executes: a first control (54) for causing the movement unit (14) to move at a first speed toward a detection position (66) at which detection by the detection sensor (16c) switches, and stopping the movement unit (14) when the detection switches; and a second control (56, 57) for causing the movement unit (14) to move toward the detection position (66) at a second speed that is lower than the first speed, and stopping the movement unit (14) when the detection switches.
