Description:
Weed control device

The object of this invention is a weed control device that is formed from a water reservoir and a water heating device.

The purpose of the invention is to collect, store and pre-heat water so the water will be suitable for controlling weeds with hot water, and for irrigation water, as well as for using to control pests (e.g. gastropods). The weed control device can be installed in a fixed manner or can be portable. In hot-water weed control, the water has previously been taken from the mains water supply or is pumped from surface water, such as from a lake or river. When using mains water, the price of the water is high and it is cold, in which case heating it requires energy that costs a lot.

The purpose of the current invention is to eliminate the drawbacks presented above. The weed control device according to the invention is characterized in that the water coming into and stored in the water reservoir is pre-heatable directly or indirectly with a solar collector and/or with a solar panel, and in that the pre-heated water is heatable with a hot water device integrated in, or separate from, the heating device to become weed control water at a temperature of approx. 100°C.

The various embodiments of the invention are presented in the dependent claims of the claim set.

With the weed control device, rainwater and surface water can be utilized and the pre-heating can be performed utilizing solar energy, in which case a large part of the energy needed for heating water is derived emission-free from the sun. This makes the use of hot water in weed control cost-efficient in two ways: the costs incurred by utilizing solar energy and by transporting water are minimized because the device is situated e.g. in a park, in the garden of a property, in cultivated land, or otherwise near the point of use. Or the necessary amount of pre-heated treatment water is brought in one lot to the site with the portable reservoir and/or the portable device. In the following, the invention will be described by the aid of an embodiment, with reference to the attached drawing that presents the weed control device as an axonometric diagram. The weed control device is formed from a water reservoir 1 and a water heating device 9. The water coming into and stored in the water reservoir

1 is pre-heatable directly or indirectly with a solar collector 4 and/or with a solar panel 3. The pre-heated water is heatable with a hot water device integrated in, or separate from, the heating device 9 to become weed control water at a temperature of approx. 100°C. The hot water device is also, of course, inside the casing of the water reservoir.

The weed control device comprises a rainwater collector, such as a collector funnel 2 and can, in addition to this, also be connected to a rainwater system 7 of an adjacent building. Between the collector funnel

2 and the water reservoir 1 is a filter, as also there is a filter 5 in the downspout between the rainwater system 7 and the water reservoir.

The heating effect of direct sunlight is reflected on the surface 8 of the heating device 9.
