Abstract:
A welding apparatus that generates an arc by applying an AC voltage between an electrode (TE) and a workpiece (W) is provided with a capacitor (31), a charging circuit (34) that charges the capacitor (31), a discharging circuit (35) that performs a discharge operation of increasing a current that flows from the tungsten electrode (TE) to the workpiece (W) due to arc discharge by the discharge of the capacitor (31), and a control device (40) that causes the discharging circuit (35) to perform the discharge operation continuously within a discharge period of 5% or less of the cycle of the AC voltage when switching the polarity of the AC voltage from a positive polarity to the reversed polarity.
