Abstract:
A wheel which guarantees stable driving even when a tire (7) is broken. The wheel includes an annular drum portion (1) equipped with rims (2) on both sides, and an annular protruding member (4) having a greater diameter than that of a flange (3) at the tip of the rim (2) and disposed at an outer circumferential center of the annular drum portion (1). At least one groove (5) crossing and cutting the annular protruding member (4) is provided to the annular protruding member (4). The annular protruding member (4) has flat sheet-like support members. The groove (5) is shaped in such a manner that its upper part is narrower and its lower part is wider. The depth of the groove (5) is at least 1.5 times the protruding height of the annular protruding member (4) from the flange (3). An annular additional member (6) for covering the outer peripheral portion of the annular protruding member (4) may be removably fitted to the latter in the form of at least two split segments, and the wheel of this invention can also be used stably as a wheel of a large size vehicle. The diameter of the rim on the external side of the car body can be shaped to be greater than the diameter of the rim on the internal side of the car body, so that a quick-responsive operation can be ensured while keeping a good cushion property. In this case, the annular protruding member may be shaped to have a greater diameter than the flange at the tip of the rim on the internal side.
