Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an assistance device for moving a wheelchair upon a stairway, which is capable of reducing the burden upon a caregiver or a worker at a facility when such as a patient in a hospital or a care facility makes an emergency evacuation via the stairway in the wheelchair. Provided is a wheelchair assistance device having a structure which is adapted to a structure which is common to typical wheelchairs, allowing ease of movement of the wheelchair upon a stairway by the attachment of the assistance device to the wheelchair. Specifically: a rigid rectangular frame is used; L-shaped hooks and plates forming support parts are disposed thereupon, having rigidity which withstands use; the frontal frame of the rectangular frame is positioned ahead of footrests of a wheelchair when the rectangular frame is detachably suspended by the L-shaped hooks upon the frame of the wheelchair; and the plates hold the footrests of the wheelchair from below. Thus, the wheelchair can be supported from the footrest side thereof.
