Disclosed is a wind turbine generator and a wind turbine generator system using the wind turbine generator wherein a large output capacity is attained while maintaining mass productivity of the wind turbine generator. Furthermore, the wind speed region in which the wind turbine generator can operate is enlarged. A wind turbine generator has a stator which contains an armature winding in a plurality of stator slots, and a rotor which contains the field winding in a plurality of rotor slots wherein the number of parallel circuits forming the armature winding is set larger than the number of poles and smaller than the number of slots per phase. Power generation efficiency is maintained by optimizing the exciting power supplied to the armature winding by an exciter according to the wind speed.
