Disclosed are a wireless communication method in a wireless network and an electronic device for performing same. The electronic device comprises: a communication module; and at least one processor that controls communication performed by the communication module, wherein the at least one processor searches for an electronic device capable of peer-to-peer (P2P) connection, receives, from another electronic device, connection setting information thereof in response to the search, identifies whether the another electronic device supports tunneled direct link setup (TDLS) connection through P2P on the basis of the connection setting information, sends a TDLS connection request to the another electronic device through a group owner device of a P2P group to which the electronic device or the another electronic device belongs when the another electronic device is identified as supporting the TDLS connection through P2P, and causes the electronic device to communicate with the another electronic device through the TDLS connection when the TDLS connection is established with the another electronic device through P2P.
