Abstract:
In order to suppress the adverse effects of the side lobes of an antenna array when determining an array weight vector (AWV) used for communication based on the transmission/reception results of a training signal, one of two transmission/reception devices generates a fixed beam pattern and transmits a training signal, while the other transmission/reception device scans the main beam direction, receives the training signal and identifies a plurality of signal arrival directions. Subsequently, the other transmission/reception device receives the training signal in series in the aforementioned arrival directions while the reception of the signal is restricted (e.g., while the null direction or a direction equivalent thereto is set to the arrival directions) and calculates the difference in the signal properties compared to the first reception. An AWV having a main beam or a beam direction equivalent thereto in the arrival directions excluding those in which the difference falls below a preset threshold is obtained and is used in the communication between the two transmission/reception devices.
